I'm an artist, painter. Last years I'm fascinated about the changes of big city's. So I'm paint big canvases with temporal views of buildingspaces into the center of Amsterdam.
I'm also wondering why we (western modern society) have to build and change so much. why we don't appreaciate also the old stuff and keep them. Sometimes I get the feeling we are escaping from ourself by building bigger, fancier, expensier houses and offices. Everything get out of proportions, get's bigger meanwhile the hystorical old center (of Amsterdam) seems to increase.
I named this serial of big paintings BAUC, Breitner- Amsterdam Under Construction. Likre Breitner (Dutch painter of the 19th century) I'm amased and fascinated by the industrial developments of the city of Amsterdam. I want to archive temporary views. Once the painting is finished the view doesn't exist anymore.
I use a lot of colors into my paintings beacause I think colors are energy levels, I need in life energy, so I need a lot of colours. By using unusual color combinations I express my wonderness about this.
