From 80’s alike every post soviet country in Georgia also had begun the process of the deconstruction of the established mentality and its replacement with the indistinct ‘capitalism’.
Infinite changes of formations mainly served to establish totally vague ‘novelties’ for the general society. Soon this process was accompanied by the war for the national and geographical entirety. Nevertheless no one won this war, it still continues until today. The goal of this war was not defence of the human rights or creating contemporary national heroes – in Georgia, as in the whole Caucasus, one still fights to defend/strengthen the borders, to destroy/expand them or even to liberate from them. Origins of all the problems and misfortunes of this region during these last years are hidden in the political and mental borders of its society. They still can’t divide the territories and even the border between ‘us’ and indefinite ‘west’ still can’t be found and outlined.

Caucasus, despite being the crossroad of the east and west, more often appears not as a conductor but merely as a border between such different and sometimes even opposed civilizations. Political and geographical borders much vividly appear in the mind of its inhabitants and especially in the creative ones’. The most part of the artists who participate in this project clearly remember how the ‘perestroika’ was changing the forms and the borders of their countries, formation of their conscious was accompanied by the infinite analyze of the phenomena of the border.

“BORDER” is not concentrated only on the problems of the local basis; by inviting artists from the worldwide we tend to generalize the problems and outline the similarities/differences between societies of a different historical culture and mentality, to help to generous exchange of experiences among the artists. The project is also interested to expand the role and the area of the artistic activities and responsibilities of the artists themselves, offering every participator to promote the project in the country of their origin/recent activity.

Working group and works will be selected after the dialogue between the organisers and the artists; also will be decided the form and shedule of the realisation and presentation of the project.

La Georgie dans les années 80 ressemblent à tous les pays post-soviétiques qui avait également entamé le processus de déconstruction et son remplacement par le capitalisme.
D'infinies modifications ont servi à établir des "nouveautés" pour la société en général. Bientôt, ce processus a été accompagné par la guerre. Néanmoins, personne n'a gagné cette guerre car ses conséquenses se répercutent encore aujourd'hui. Le but de cette guerre n'était pas la défense des droits de l'homme ou de la création contemporaine de héros nationaux - en Géorgie, comme dans l'ensemble du Caucase, on se battait et l'on se bat toujours pour défendre ou renforcer les frontières, les détruire ou les élargir ou même les effacer. L'Origine de tous ses problèmes et les malheurs de cette région au cours de ces dernières années sont cachés par les politiques et les dirigeants de notre société. Ils ne peuvent toujours pas diviser les territoires et même la frontière entre «nous» et le «west» est indéfinie, celle-ci ne peut toujours pas être trouvée.
Le Caucase, bien qu'il soit le carrefour de l'est et de l'ouest, plus souvent apparaît non pas comme un chef d'orchestre, mais simplement comme une frontière marquant ces différences, et parfois même contre les civilisations. Les frontières politiques et géographiques semblent bien vivantes dans l'esprit de ses habitants et créateurs. La plupart des artistes qui participent à ce projet se souviennent clairement comment la "perestroïka" a été une révolution des formes et des frontières, et leur formation à générer une conscience accompagnée d'une analyse de ces phénomènes : la frontière.
"BORDER" ne se concentre pas seulement sur des problèmes localisés mais pose une base de travail en invitant les artistes à l'échelle mondiale. Nous avons tendance à généraliser les problèmes et à les présenter avec leur similitudes et différences. D'une société à l'autre la culture historique contribue à l'échange d'expériences. Le projet s'intéresse également à élargir cette vision et donner une autre vision, celle des artistes. Cette zone d'activité artistique est de notre responsabilité ainsi que la promotion des artistes au travers de ce projet initialisé par une problématique du pays d'origine. Le Groupe de travail et les ouvrages seront sélectionnés après un dialogue entre les organisateurs et les artistes; aussi sera décidée la forme et la grille de réalisation et de présentation du projet.
