The aim of the project ExTra! - Exchange Traditions is to stimulate exchange between different music traditions present in today's multicultural Europe. The main focus is on the integration of musical traditions of migrant and minority cultures in Europe.

The next two activities organised in the frame of this European funded project will take place in France and in Finland.
-March 2008, Gannat, France: The Association Nationale Culture et Traditions organises discovery and exchange sessions around the theme of cross fertilization music, in the frame of the "Traditional music regional competition". French and foreign traditional music groups and young people will be convened to discover and become actors of living music traditions. On this occasion, mica will organise a workshop and tutorials on issues of online dissemination and copyright for traditional music.
-10-12 July 2008 in Kaustinen, Finland: The « green music » workshop, organised by the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, will be the meeting of very diverse musical practices, although speaking the same language. The idea of this workshop is to make green musicians (the traditional musicians who use plants, minerals, animal parts to make music), meet various forms of today’s music: traditional music of immigrants, multimedia music (techno etc.), contemporary music, improvised music. The aim of this workshop is to connect modern practices to their very ancient roots, and create new languages.
On 13 July, an "open green workshop" will take place in the frame of the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival.
