A conceptual gallery that serves as a mobile platform to extend artistic work to the areas of science and politics. It is designed to allow exhibitions to adapt to different locations, including spaces other than galleries.
It showcases projects at the intersection of science and art, and art and technologies, as well as artists who deal with biotechnology, medicine, recycling materials and technologies, nature, etc.
It was established in 2006 at the initiative of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Potočnik, who became European Commissioner for the Environment in 2010. The gallery has shown a number of artistic projects in the Berlaymont Building in Brussels (European Commission premises) and at other locations.
The programme is developed and run by the curatorial team of the Kapelica Gallery, Ljubljana. New applications for mobile devices are to be launched in early 2011.
