THE MAGIC SEVENTH MUSEUM NIGHT IN SERBIA

According to certain interpretations, number seven is the perfect number. Number seven is also considered to be a happy number, and it is believed that it indicates the triumph of spirit over matter. There are seven colors of the rainbow, seven musical notes and seven days of the week.

Art production group "Museum Night" announces that the upcoming Museum Night,  on 15th May 2010, would be happy and magical time for whole Serbia. As always, museums and galleries have prepared special events and program exclusively for the Museum Night, following the old principle - something for everyone.

Belgrade and more than 40 cities across Serbia will take part in Museum Night 2010. This cultural spectacle will  take citizens of  Novi Sad, Valjevo, Šabac, Pancevo, Aleksandrovac, Krusevac, Kraljevo, Zrenjanin, Sombor, Kikinda, Jagodina, Uzice, Smederevo, Pozarevac, Subotica, Cacak, etc., for an eight hour walk through museums. Exactly at 6 pm, more than 150 cultural institutions in Serbia will open their doors, and the visitors will be able to enter all local museums and galleries, see all traveling exhibitions or enjoy numerous concerts and street performances with a single ticket.

Exciting program made specially for the fans of sleepless Museum Night will take place at 70 locations all over the city. The organizers of the event promise that this year more attention will be paid to quality rather than quantity, and to presentation of several completely new locations to the public. Belgrade citizens and visitors  will be able to see spaces and exhibits that have not been presented to the public before. Also, the most popular exhibitions from other cities that have participated in previous Museum Nights will be presented.

The general recommendation is to start visiting  locations as early as possible in order to see most of the exibits and events. For easier orientation the city is going to be devided into zones. Whether you're a fan of classical or contemporary art, architecture or sculpture, paintings or performance, you can create your own tour through the Museum Night, and thus satisfy your needs.

Some of the museums will after several years finally open their doors for the art lovers, others will present exhibits that haven’t been seen before, some galleries and cultural centers will have concerts, and others will present performances and artistic workshops. This magical and happy seventh Museums Night will raise the whole city on their feet which will hardly leave anyone indifferent.
