
Astràgali Teatro, University of Salento–Department of History, Society and Human studies , University of Cadiz (Spain), Italy Centre of International Theatre Institute (ITI) are launching a call for participation in an international theatre residency that will be held in Cadiz (Spain) in December 2012.
The International Theatre Residency in Cadiz is part of the project H.O.S.T.-Hospitality, Otherness, Society, Theatre, carried out by the University of Salento-Department of History, Society and Human Studies, in partnership with Astràgali Teatro, Province of Lecce, Babelmed, GAL Terra d’Arneo (Italy), University of Cadiz (Spain), Theatro tsi Zakynthos (Greece), Satiriko Theatre (Cyprus) and the International Theatre Institute Directorate General (France). The project is
funded by the European Union within the framework of the Culture Programme 2007-2013.
The International Theatre Residency foresees an intensive workshop, held by the theatre director Fabio Tolledi and the trainers of Astràgali Teatro. Core of the workshop is: an intercultural and multidisciplinary approach based on physical training and the elaboration of art techniques as a critical instrument against discrimination and conflict. The main issue of the workshop is related to
migration and to a social research on migration in involved countries carried out by University of Salento.
This first residency in Cadiz is part of three artistic residencies (the other two are in Zakynthos- Greece and Lecce-Italy) foreseen by the project and finalised to the realisation of a joint performance whose final presentation will be held in Lecce. The workshop foresees an intensive work schedule (8/10 hours a day).
Selected participants will be asked to pay a security deposit that will be refunded at the end of residency. Payable at registration: 50 €

Location: Casa de la Juventud, Cadiz (Spain)
International travel, room and board are at participants’ own expense. The organizers will advise on best-priced accommodation and dining options.
How to Apply to the International Theatre Residency
Applicants must submit the following documents electronically (in English) to this e-mail address teatro@astragali.org by 25th October, 12 noon CET, at the latest:
• An updated CV, including a phone number and email address
• A short letter of motivation (max. 400 words), specifying: what you expect to take away from the programme

Admission Decision
All applicants will be notified of the decision of the Evaluation Committee by the first week of November 2012. If you are offered admission, you will need to accept the offer in writing.
