The Asia-Europe Young Urban Leaders Dialogue (AEYULD) was initially implemented in 2008 in Madrid, Spain, as a programme for exchanging ideas and good practices to develop a new way of managing cities.
It aimed at creating and developing a sustainable bi-regional network of young leaders, mainly residing in cities of ASEM partner countries in the fields of public administration, business, academe, arts, politics or media. As a follow-up, the 2010 edition of the Dialogue will build on the existing results and follow the recommendations of the participants present in Madrid, focusing on the specific issue of sustainability of cities and urban design. The programme aims to:
* Exchange successful cross-sectoral approaches used in the development of the urban policies in Asian and European cities;
* Contribute to the development of forms of governance that encourage the active participation of young people in their communities;
* Encourage the active involvement of young urban leaders in Urban Networks.
