An international digital journal in culture and development published twice a year by the University of Girona (Spain) and the Technological University of Bolivar (Colombia). Its goal is the spread of scientific knowledge and, more specifically, the social appropriation of knowledge resulting from research studies and projects on the fertile relationship between the fields of culture and development.
The journal aims at previously unpublished texts presenting research results in its field of specialization. The journal also accepts collaborations from independent researchers not affiliated with official research programmes.
The subjects of the articles published in Wale’keru are mainly about the multiple and complex relations between culture and development. It contains articles that examine culture as a context, a resource and/or a developmental goal; that reflect on development and provide a new way of thinking about it in terms of culture; that investigate the role of culture in the global economy and trade; that lead to a better understanding of the interrelationship between culture, the main political sectors and investments in development; that examine the contribution of culture to sustainable human development and its incorporation in anti-poverty policies; and that study the role of culture in cooperation for development.
