Policies and Programs of Support for Senior Artists

Author: Timothée Guicherd - Date: 10 dec 2009, 09:33

A report that analyses the financial needs of senior artists across 18 countries, from Europe to North America.

The report lists a variety of policies and programmes in place to provide support to senior artists experiencing financial difficulties. It looks at six models: pension schemes; multi-year grants; guaranteed income; subsidised housing programmes; dancers' transition centres; and grants for senior artists awarded for artistic contribution.

Written by Professor Joyce Zemans from York University, Canada, research was supplemented by information from 17 countries outside Canada. The report was initiated by the 28th D'Art question from the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA).
