A theatre, rehearsal space, café and offices in the city of Porsgrunn in Grenland, Norway. The purpose is not only to create innovative, entertaining and thought-provoking performances, but also to contribute to the development of a new theatre culture in rural Norway. Grenland Friteater started operating in 1976 and also produces Porsgrunn International Theatre festival (PIT) and a citywide event called Sense of Place (Stedsans).
