The National Gallery of Denmark started a five-year digital development programme in 2010, SMK Digital, to bring the museum to the very forefront of digital arts communication. The programme aims to develop digital museum practice, to stimulate user interest in art and to investigate how users can become co-creators of the museum content.
The programme covers online access to the collections, an online art database with information on collections, research and exhibition activities, as well as digital communication, video and games as an integrated part of the museum’s art education and promotion. A “My SMK” will be developed to enable users to customise the content. The development programme is supported by the Nordea Foundation.
