The Adriatic Sea represents metaphorically the approach to this Region in focus. The sea could be seen as a dividing feature, but on the contrary, it is a bridge, a place for ideas, styles and creativity to flow, circulate and mix together. Its waters are a symbol of regeneration and stimulating interactions.
The overall Adriatic Euroregion in focus approach aims to offer a regional picture of cultural and artistic independent organisations, initiatives and operators that are truly active in transnational cooperation in the region and across Europe.
Our approach goes beyond national borders, historical groupings of countries and stereotypes. We introduce a new concept of regionalism and transnational cooperation across the Adriatic Sea and beyond to present the current status, with the aim of stimulating further cooperation across Europe.
By dipping your toe into this Region in focus, you'll realise how much the culture(s) of two sides of the Adriatic Sea are deeply inter-related and have been artificially separated during the twentieth century. Since the early nineties, organisations, artists and cultural operators have been striving to re-establish relations and cooperation across borders. A process of rebuilding broken relationships is under way.
By presenting you with the vibrant creative energy of the cultural and arts sector of the Adriatic region, we will demonstrate the great richness and diversity, as well as the common values and concrete interactions across the region.
A fundamental element of the Adriatic Euroregion in focus is the various viewpoints consisting of thematic overviews with a personal touch. Short videos, texts, images and more are used to give a dynamic view of the region.
You will see that our viewpoint contributors come from a diverse range of backgrounds and offer a range of expertise, from artists to cultural managers, from intellectuals to film-makers, from writers and poets to social activists and young people. Through these perspectives we hope to give you a comprehensive view of the Adriatic Euroregion's reality.
