Advocates the freedom of expression of musicians and composers worldwide. Documents censorship, informs the media, human rights organisations and the public and files legal cases.
It is a membership organisation and receives funding from the Swedish International Development cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Sigrid Rausing Trust, Roskilde Festival Charity Society, Björn Afzelius International Culture Foundation (BAIK) and Sweden's Special Initiative for Democratisation and Freedom of Expression.
