Architecture & Children

Author: Gunilla Redelius - Date: 08 jul 2011, 13:39

A network that helps architects and teachers everywhere to show young people what makes good architecture and a sustainable environment. Under the auspices of the International Union of Architects (UIA), the aim is that children will take an active part, as future citizens, in shaping the world they live in, embracing both heritage and innovation in the creation of communities that provide a healthy and harmonious quality of life for all.

The network has also launched the UIA Architecture & Children Golden Cubes Awards, which will honour people and organisations that help children and young people to understand architecture. Entrants are invited to submit entries describing activities or products designed to teach children and young people (from pre-school up to and including the age of 18) to understand architectural design and the processes by which our environment is formed. There are awards for schools and institutions, as well as written and visual media. The deadline for applications is March.
