Located in Berlin in a building of historical and architectural interest, the HKW presents non-European cultures through the arts and engages them in a public discourse with European cultures. Its interesting programme of events and projects is developed in cooperation with experts, artists and curators.

The HKW website provides information resources, links and dossiers on various previously showcased themes. It is also one of the organisations responsible for the culturebase.net project, a database on contemporary international artists from all fields.
