A research and training centre, located in Epidaurus, Greece, it focuses on the revival of the stage practices of ancient Greek theatre. It serves as a meeting point and platform for research and training, and includes an international partnership network of theatre ensembles, research organisations and academic institutions.
The aim is to transform these ancient sites into dynamic creative spaces where local and international practitioners can meet and work together to present work practices, micro-performances and demonstration pieces to thousands of seasonal visitors.
Imalis offers an opportunity for theatre companies and productions to develop and deepen their staging and rehearsal approaches on site, by taking advantage of the in situ access to the ancient sites and with the support of experts in language, music, dance etc.
