The Board of the Media Academy in Hilversum has declared bankruptcy on 20 July 2009. The Media Academy is struggling with sales below expectations and high fixed costs.
The Media Academy in Hilversum was created in its present form in 1991 and is an initiative from the Dutch media sector. The board includes the Dutch Public Broadcasting (NPO), commercial broadcasters and TV producers. In the last years, there was less demand for media classes, even though the Media Academy attempted to create partnerships with schools.
