The European Cultural Foundation (ECF), the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and ENCATC officially make known today the 6 finalists nominated for the 2011 Cultural Policy Research Award. The final winner of the 2011 CPR Award will be publicly announced on 12 October 2011 at the opening of the 19th ENCATC Annual Conference “CultureForecast” Helsinki, Finland (12-14 October 2011).
From a selection of 31 high-quality applications from 19 different countries on the wider European continent, the talented young cultural researchers Aleksandar Brkic (Serbia), Caitriona Noonan (Ireland), Ana Rita Pereira Roders (Portugal), Thomas Perrin (France), Laura Pierantoni (Italy), and Arne Saeys (Belgium) are now in the running for the CPR Award 2011, worth 10.000 Euro.
The 6 CPRA finalists were selected by a high profile international Jury which includes: Lluís Bonet – President (University of Barcelona, Spain), Milena Dragićević Šešić (University of Arts, Belgrade, Serbia), Ritva Mitchell (Cupore, Finland), Jacques Bonniel (Universite Lyon 2, France), Mikhail Gnedovsky (Cultural Policy Institute, Russia), Therese Kaufmann (eipcp, Austria) and Eleonora Belfiore (University of Warwick, UK).
The research projects submitted by the 6 finalists, which aim at shedding light on contemporary European cultural issues and challenges, focused on topics as varied as world heritage, urban regeneration, regional development or even reconstructing national and supranational identities.
The 6 finalists are also invited to attend the Young Cultural Policy Researchers Forum (YCPR Forum), where they will be challenged to present their project proposal to the CPRA jury, Forum participants and ENCATC members. The YCPR Forum will take place on 11-12 October 2011 in Helsinki as an integral part of the 2011 ENCATC Annual Conference.
Launched in 2004, the CPRA annual competition represents a unique opportunity for young cultural researchers seeking to make a break into the research field and contribute to the production of new knowledge. The CPRA and the YCPR Forum are part of a programme package in support of young cultural policy researchers. More information available at http://www.eurocult.org/activities/advocacy
