Culture Cartels

It is not difficult to make culture in Poland, non-govermental organizations are full of great, well-educated people who know what and know how to do it.

For many years those organizations have worked separately and maybe that's why we have almost 500 titles of cultural magazines, included 170 literature magazines. Of course there was a huge amount of cooperations between those organizations, but now we will be viewers of something completely new - four important non-govermental organizations ("Krytyka polityczna" (Political critic http://www.krytykapolityczna.pl), "Teatr Rozmaitosci" (Rozmaitosci Theatre http://www.trwarszawa.pl/), "Koporacja Ha!art" (Ha!art Corporation, http://www.ha.art.pl) and "Fundacja Galerii Foksal" (Foksal Gallery Fundation, http://www.fgf.com.pl/) will try to built something like a cartel. And they will try to check is it possible to build culture together.

What do you think? Should cultural organizations or European non-governmental organizations try to get together into a group and make something like a cartel? Can we sacrifice a brand and a kind of organizations' identity to make a new one - the brand which will be a product of common conceptions and experiences.

All of them have their history and they are very specific and of course completely different from each other. So the question is - is it worth to be in a such a cartel and work for its brand, or is it completely unnecessary to work together. Because it is quite dangerous for those who won't be on the same level for all the time that the rest is.

Sure, cultural cooperation should stand as a priority for cultural NGOs. In Polsnd it is still not a very popular trend, but best European practices show that there is no other way if you want to be active an innovative. The cooperation of even small organisations, exchanging ideas and shaping a common experience of culture is should be a new quality in Polish cultural sector.

Współpraca kulturalna między nawet niewielkimi oragnizacjami na poziomie międzynarodowym ma rosnące znaczenie. Podkreślić należy tu takie "korzyści" dla szeroko pojętej kultury jak zwiększenie przepływu produktów czy dzieł kultury, mobilność operatorów kulturalnych oraz rozwój współpracy transgranicznej. Te atuty mówią same za siebie. Rzeczywiście istnieje wiele przykładów dobrych praktyk w zakresie współpracy wypracowanych przez organizacje kultury, które szukając nowych sposobów na realizowanie swoich priorytetów wcale nie muszą zrzekać się swojego dotychczasowego "wizerunku".

Taki typ współpracy wydaje się byś szczególnie istotny dla takich państw jak Polska, w których działania podejmowane w ramach oficjalnej polityki kulturalnej wielokrotnie pozostawiają dużo do życzenia. Stworzenie prężnej sieci wymiany intelektualno -kulturalnej w ramach "drugiego obiegu" zrekompensowałoby niedowład tego "oficjalnego".

Oczywiście zgadzam się z przedmówczyniami. Chciałabym tylko prosić o ewentualne przykłady takich praktyk, bo wydaje mi się, że są one stosunkowo mało popularne w Polsce. Zastanawiam się nad TR Warszawa, może FAIT w Krakowie, nie wiem, czy są to odpowiednie przykłady. Jak myślicie?
