
A study of cultural tourism trends in Europe, which includes an analysis of the visitor impacts of the European Capital of Culture (ECOC) programme.
The main objective of the study was to create a conceptual framework with a structural approach that can be broadly used in practical marketing, especially communication, and product development. In addition to this, the study consists of an inventory and analysis of available quantitative data on city tourism and culture and a qualitative survey of the supply side.
This report was prepared in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (WTO), as part of a series of Market Reports that form part of the ongoing Research Programme of the European Travel Commission (ETC).
