LabforCulture

Cristina Farinha

I studied sociology as well as labour law in Porto, Lisboa and Paris.
Since the mid 90´s, I have been working from the north of Portugal to the European stage, as lecturer, researcher and policy adviser on the role of culture in governance and development and on the empowerment of the sector in what comes to its social and employment status.
As from 2004, based first in Utrecht, then in Brussels and currently in Porto, I am analysing how freedom of circulation along with the new means of communication are being used by artists in Europe and in which ways mobility is changing artistic practices and professional profiles, but also Europe as a whole.
I have met LabforCulture in the beginning of 2006. I was firstly a tester, then a user and presently I am also editing the "Directory" section (from June 2007 to March 2008 I´ve also edited the "Resources for Research" section).
