Lidia Varbanova

I have almost twenty years of professional experience in the management, advancement and research of national and international cultural policy development programs, capacity building and project management for cultural organisations in Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Canada and USA. I contribute to the development of the LabforCulture initiative as a consultant and member of the editorial group. I love meetings with diverse audiences around the world. I am a visiting professor in several European universities and training programs. I consults on various international projects on cultural cooperation, networking, promotion, innovative fundraising and partnership building. Among the major awards and fellowships I have received are: FULBRIGHT fellowship in cultural economics; RSS-OSI grant; NISPAcee fellowship; Fellowship Grant by the Japan Foundation; Project Grant by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation; ARTSLINK visiting fellowship, UCLA, California; Scholarship, the Webb Memorial Trust, Ruskin College, Oxford. I obtain Ph.D. in Economics, MA in Industrial Management and Minor in Journalism.
My membership in several networks, among them the Alumni Society of Salzburg Global Seminar and the International Remarque Forum Network, is one of the important sources of my ongoing energy...
My friends and colleagues often say that I am an endless optimist, full of energy, open minded, curious, loving life, ongoing learner, frequent traveler, devoted much to my work and to the mission of helping others. I can add that I am a “fun lover”, I still believe that miracles happen, I have strong values in life. I love music and performing arts, I play piano, I sing and I organize social events and parties in the joyful minutes of my life.
