Ring Ring International New Music Festival

Brief description

RING RING is an international festival of new music directed by Bojan Djordjevic. It introduced innovations to the Belgrade music scene that merged improvised and contemporary music with world and traditional music. In 1999, war stopped activities. In s, the festival asked musicians to play “Ring Ring 99- Around the World Festival." International support was strong with some 60 concerts taking place in 25 cities around the world. Today, Ring Ring continues to be held every year in the Rex, B92 cultural center in Belgrade.

Significant features

Since 1996, Ring Ring has brought world musicians to Belgrade for a mixing of avant-garde and traditional music with both local and international participants. For local musicians, Ring Ring provides a venue to play and experiment with world musicians. Since 2000, the Festival has also hosted workshops.
