The Pirate Party and the Green group in the European Parliament are planning to put forward an Internet Bill of Rights. What do you think it should contain?

That's how Pirate Party MEP Christian Engström announced the news on his blog. He also wants the process to be as participative as possible - everyone is invited to participate and contribute.

He outlines three major areas of reflection:

  • Fundamental rights
  • Net neutrality
  • Mere conduit

That definitely reminds me of the Charter for Innovation, Creativity and Access to Knowledge elaborated during the Free Culture Forum in September 2009 in Barcelona.

Someone mentions in the comments Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace - published in 1996 and rather utopian at the time, it still holds relevance today!...
