Foundations

Foundations across Europe differ widely in their aims, procedures and legal structures. Some are solely operational (i.e., they develop their own programmes and also seek matching funds for their activities), while others are grant-giving, providing support to individuals, organisations or projects.

Some funding foundations have a primarily cultural raison d’être (funding mobility, artistic exchange etc.). Others are more general, with broadly defined aims and grant policies in diverse areas such as education and research.
