The Centre was created in 1996 with the Support of the Soros Foundation Moldova. The Centre named its main goal as support for a new generation of artists. It is socially committed and feels free to question the legitimacy of official culture policies inherited from Moldova's totalitarian past. In this context, [ksa:k] is constantly on the watch for new cultural forms in keeping with the new social, political and economic conditions that characterise a society in transition. The Centre encourages new methods and forms of artistic expression, complementing these with appropriate theoretical material and critique.
