An organisation which promotes the profession of 'conservator-restorer' of cultural property. ECCO advocates a high level of training and strives for legal recognition of the profession. Through its professional associations, it represents over 5,000 members across Europe. ECCO is represented on several European Commission and Council of Europe committees that deal with cultural heritage matters. It is a founding member of the European Heritage Group. Members receive a newsletter.
