Founded by Wlodzimierz Staniewski in 1977, the centre in Gardzienice enjoys an international reputation for its extraordinary musical theatre performances. Some forty expeditions to remote regions of Poland, and further afield to New Mexico, Italy, South Korea and Norway, have allowed performers to gather songs, myths, rituals and oral histories of indigenous communities that are used as basis for each performance.
