Access To Cultural Heritage Project (ACCU)

Brief description

A European joint venture to enhance access to cultural heritage through action plans, best practices and information dissemination. The three-year project (2004-2007) includes two conferences, an e-accessible website, a DVD (Making Cultural Heritage Sites and Exhibitions Accessible) and a travelling exhibition. ACCU pilot projects in the five project countries demonstrate new techniques and policies on access to heritage.

Significant features

The project aims to increase equal access in museums and heritage sites so that all visitors can obtain information on and take part in cultural activities. The project produces information, promotes good practice and highlights existing examples of access-related solutions. Each coorganiser works with a local cultural venue in pilot actions involving transferable techniques and new policies.
