"The concept of the project proposes a modern alternative to the classical, motionless, literary discourse of the exhibition, through multimedia digital technologies and through the transposition in eight European languages."
EuroLiteraTur also took place as an itinerant exhibition in Athens, Saragossa, Rome, Lodz and Prague, while the permanent exhibition is displayed at the National Museum of Romanian Literature. Outcomes of the project are also available in the form of DVD and Online Encyclopaedia.
The project included six collaborating institutions from six European countries, and was supported by 45 organisations from 13 countries.
The virtual encyclopaedia covers major stages of European literature: Antiquity, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Classicism and Baroque, Enlightenment, Romanticism, Realism, Naturalism, Parnassianism, Symbolism, Modern and Contemporary Literature. It encompasses information on the most representative authors, historical and cultural contexts, and general and literary features of the periods.
Created in eight European languages, the database of the exhibition includes over 8,000 pages of rich multimedia material: historical and literary articles about 600 European authors, photo documentation (of writers, manuscripts, books), over 300 audio and video sequences (interviews, movies, music, theatrical and poetry performances), and over 100 e-books.
