The Council of Europe/ERICarts "Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe, 10th edition", 2009 is a web-based and permanently updated information and monitoring system of national cultural policies in Europe. It is a long term project which aims to include all 49 member states co-operating within the context of the European Cultural Convention. The Compendium Community is engaged in a number of exercises to monitor the implementation of:
• Standard Setting Instruments in the Cultural Sector
• Developments in National Laws and Policies
• Key recommendations made within the Council of Europe National Cultural Policy Review Programme (in development)

The website contains cultural policy profiles for 41 countries - clicking on a country will direct you to quick facts and figures, cultural policy profiles and updates, key documents, profiles of the national experts, partner resources (LabforCulture and IFACCA).

There are several new features offered by the Compendium website:
Cultural Statistics in Europe: Comparative tables and graphs on population, participation, markets, employment, public funding. Cultural Price Index on Goods and Services employing OECD - PPP data.
Compilation of articles on comparative methodologies and the links between research and policy development
• A new section on Research & Policy has been added where you will find links to research articles on comparative cultural policy analysis and methodologies. It was created as part of an ongoing effort by the Compendium editors to advance the linkages between cultural policy making and comparative research. Researchers and students are invited to submit their articles for review and publication on this section of the site.

The Transversal Themes section presents integrated information on cross-cutting, transversal issues of priority to cultural policy makers and analysts:
• Cultural diversity
• Intercultural dialogue
• Status of artists
International cultural co-operation and mobility
A new section on ethics and human rights in cultural policy is in development.

The Compendium is recognised as a key instrument of the Council of Europe's http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/cultureheritage/Policies/CWE/default_en.asp" target="_self">CultureWatchEurope.
