We have been writing an article. (We: Nancy Duxbury, Catherine Cullen and Jordi Pascual). The title of the article is CITIES, CULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, and was commissioned by Helmut K. Anheier and Yudhishthir Raj Isar. The article will be published in the Cultures and Globalization Series (volume 5) in late 2011. We just finished the first draft.

We say "the ‘traditional paradigm’ of sustainability, with three dimensions or pillars (environmental balance, economic growth, and social inclusion) is incomplete and fails to integrate a key component: the cultural aspects of society. We believe (almost) all ingredients for a new paradigm that includes culture as the fourth dimension or pillar are ready. The current challenge is to align efforts and advance thinking!!
