A fund designed to support innovative and talented film-makers from Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America. The fund offers individual grants for script and project development, digital production, post-production, workshops or for distribution in the country of origin. Selection rounds take place twice a year. Applications should be in English or French.
The HBF supported films are screened at a number of major international film festivals. The fund is managed by the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), with support from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of Dutch non-profit organisations and the Dutch public broadcasting network, NPS.
