This report is a combination of presentations made during the conference as well as research undertaken by the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft and the Boekmanstichting on the policy priorities and funding mechanisms influencing cultural cooperation in the Netherlands and in the German Land of Nordrhein-Westfalen. The purpose of the conference was to discuss cross-border cultural co-operation and to present successful projects undertaken along the German/Dutch border such as "Dialoog Cultuur - NL in NRW" (1996) and 'kunst.nrw.nl - herkennen/erkennen" (1999). Understanding the different cultural and political contexts and decision-making procedures were deemed as important factors for sustainable cross-border cooperation.
