An independent foundation which promotes cultural and other initiatives that contribute to the development and presence of Mediterranean culture. Its aims also include cultural exchange and solidarity between the people of the Mediterranean region. Created in 1990, it has been responsible for over 400 activities in the region, within both peaceful and conflict-ridden contexts. Organisations from 24 countries (15 European, 6 African and 3 eastern Mediterranean) are involved in IITM.
