Activ Art

A small range test video campaign aimed at “guiding” (i.e. attracting) the Montenegrin public’s attention to the pros and cons of the Montenegrin cultural ambience and art production.

Executed in the second half of 2007, the campaign resulted in several videos, exposing the specifics of Montenegrin cultural policy. Videos were broadcast on Atlas TV, but also published as a DVD and a brochure and distributed to major cultural institutions.

Projects includes:

  • Examination of cultural policy setbacks in Montenegro; gathering of comprehensive data and information;
  • preliminary analyses;
  • Lectures & Debates (Culture & Arts in Turbulent circumstances – Case Study: Montenegro);
  • Workshop – Video art forms and culture (Video art – theoretical framework; Video art & cultural issues; Video art – practical guidelines);
  • Making of synopses; synopsis competition;
  • Synopses applying;
  • Selection of synopses for production;
  • Production of video promotion films;
  • Broadcasting and public promotion of films.

Prostory from Podgorica initiated project ActivArt - video campaign for Montenegrin culture. It was realised by different Montenegrin and regional cultural, educational and media institutions: Faculty of visual art, Podgorica; Centre for Contemporary Art, Sarajevo, Sibila d.o.o. and ATLAS television.

Prostory and the Faculty of Visual Arts (in cooperation with Atlas TV), gave technical support and facilities for organising lectures and workshops.

Centre for Contemporary Arts Sarajeno represented a creative partner for “ActivART”. Long-term experience in the realisation of alternative video art projects, as well as the significant archives they possess, was a good basis for project development and realisation of workshops on the possibilities of the video art form in culture and cultural policy.

Project is supported by Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture, European Cultural Foundation, HIVOS and OSI - program for Southeast Europe.
