A grant-giving foundation that runs programmes in the field of sustainable development in Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. It supports projects that are concerned with the development of private enterprise, public administration and policy, and civil society (encouraging civic participation in the political and economic decision-making processes). The foundation also backs projects related to social science research, media, policy research, and NGOs. It is supported by the US Agency for International Development and other public and private donors.
