A foundation that supports political education both within Germany and abroad, promoting democratic involvement, socio-political activism, and cross-cultural understanding. The Foundation also provides support for art and culture, science and research, and developmental co-operation. Its activities are guided by the fundamental political values of ecology, democracy, solidarity, and non-violence.
Through its Climate Network activities, the foundation revitalizes transatlantic relations for a green economy and facilitates transatlantic exchanges on climate issues.
The foundation's scholarship programme awards 80 to 100 scholarships each year to highly qualified German and foreign under/postgraduate and PhD students of all academic fields.
The foundation has offices in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America, that support projects related to the policy of the foundation.
