I'mPULSE

(Dez 2004 - 2006)

WHAT IS THE MAIN IDEA OF THE PROJECT AND WHO IS THE TARGET GROUP?

„The coming together of individuals and spontaneity characterises the core of I’mPULSE... It aims to encourage fresh minds to pursue the development of their music concepts by learning from each other.“ (Vanini Belarmino, Programme Manager for I'mPULSE Manila, 2005; Limerick, 2005 and Beijing, 2006)

Each encounter is focused on a specific music genre, providing a „playground“ for young artists to share ideas, learn, perform, develop artistic cooperation and initiate future career opportunities. I'mPULSE is created by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) as one of the Cultural Exchange flagship programmes.

Each music camp focuses on a particular theme and genre. It is organised by ASEF in cooperation with different partner institutions from Asia and Europe.

WHAT DOES THE PROJECT INCLUDE?

I'mPULSE, the First Asia-Europe Music Camp (Manila, Philippines, February 2005), in partnership with the Cultural Centre of the Philippines, brought together Asian traditional and Western classical composers and performers.

I’mPULSE GOL (Limerick, Ireland, November 2005), in cooperation with the Irish World Music Centre, gathered traditional young singers under the theme of „celebrating the human voice in traditional culture in the contemporary world.“

I'mPULSE Beijing (China, May 2006), consisted of two projects:
3rd I'mPULSE music camp concentrated on DJ culture and the exchange of DJs, took place at the Dashanzi International Art Festival; and
I’mPULSE Minutes, a one-minute video workshop in association with the One Minutes Foundation and Hart Centre for Arts.

I'mPULSE Clandestino (Gothenburg, Sweden, June 2007), in collaboration with Clandestino Festival, includes workshops, seminars and performances on dub music.
