While walking around in Skopje on this first day of the Biennial I met with Islam Mohammad, who is the general coordinator of EMYAN (Euro-med Young Artists Network). He explained how he launched this initiative in 2007 with a very scarce budget - though the network grew tremendously in a couple of months to become one of the major networks connecting (young) artists in the Mediterranean area.

EMYAN is also organising the Online Arts Festival - a festival which will take place 100% online in late October 2009, advocating for web2.0 models of producing and sharing artistic creativity. The target group of the festival is young artists (up to 30 yo) living in one of the Euro-Med countries. Check out the website for more information!
