A series of residencies involving a group of artists from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Egypt, Serbia and Japan. The main objective of Encontros Imediatos is to research the potential and limitations of intercultural artistic practice. During the project, artists confront their individual experiences and cultural identities in a series of meetings and residencies held over a one-year period.

The workshop explores questions relating to cultural dialogue and intercultural competence. "When referring to issues like migration, minorities or globalisation, they are readily used as keywords in the struggle against intolerance and xenophobia, but - in spite of the transfer from academic models to political slogans - there have been few opportunities to test the viability of these concepts in the many areas of human activity".
